Dr Stephen Oakey qualified in 1992 from St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School, London.
He received extensive training in Anaesthesia at Barts and The London hospitals, developing an interest in trauma and working on London's HEMS Air Ambulance. After completing research into anaesthesia for cardiac surgery he achieved specialist accreditation and was appointed Consultant in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care for Burns at Broomfield Hospital in 2001.
Areas of specialist clinical interest include Anaesthesia for Breast Reconstruction, Microvascular Surgery and Free Tissue transfer. In addition to breast surgery; minifacelift, blepharoplasty and abdominoplasty are particular areas of his cosmetic practice that are undertaken regularly.
In addition, Dr Oakey is a Course Director for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) Courses at Broomfield Hospital and teaches at the Simulation Suite at Anglia Ruskin University.
On a personal level, Dr Oakey enjoys cooking, photography, gadgets and full-grain homebrewing of real ale!
