Dr Dilshan Arawwawala was educated at Ilford County High Grammar School, Essex and in 1996 qualified in Medicine from Manchester University.
After two years of Internal Medicine he obtained the postgraduate qualification of MRCP (Member of the Royal College of Physicians). Choosing to specialise in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine he trained mainly within the Imperial School of Anaesthesia, notably at Chelsea and Westminster, Hammersmith, Royal Marsden, Royal Brompton Hospitals as well as the St Andrew’s Centre for Burns, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In 2007 he finished specialist training, qualifying in both Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine.
In Consultant post since 2007 at Broomfield Hospital, he specialises in Anaesthesia for Reconstructive Breast Surgery and Intensive Care for Burns. He is the Research Lead for the Intensive Care Unit and currently Local Principal Investigator for six multi-centre research trials.
