Fees, Billing and Payments
We are always happy to give you an estimate of our fees prior to surgery
We follow the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI) Voluntary Code of Practice for Billing Private Patients for our fees.
Payment can be made in the following ways:
Online
Follow the link emailed to you with your invoice
BACS bank transfer
Following the payment instructions on your invoice
All major cards accepted
We accept most major credit and debit cards, BACS transfers and bankers drafts. Cheques must be cleared prior to surgery.
There are several options to pay our fees:
Self Pay
Patients pay each of the three elements themselves: Anaesthetist’s fee, Surgeon’s fee, Hospital fee.
Fixed Price
Some hospitals offer a fixed price package that are all inclusive of hospital and medical costs. Our fees are covered in full.
Medical Insurance
If you have private medical insurance your insurer will ask for a code for the operation you are having and we are happy to estimate fees based on this.
Private Medical Insurers (PMIs) do not set our fees. They may pay a fixed amount to us that does not cover the entirety of our fee, in which case you will be responsible for covering that shortfall yourself. We can always provide an estimate of the anaesthetic fee ahead of your operation, if your surgeon’s office has not already done this.
PMIs have no role in regulating or recognising medical specialists. If your Anaesthetist does not charge a fee that is covered by their payment schedule, they may tell you that we are not ‘registered’ or ‘recognised’ by them. Rest assured that this is not a clinical issue.
All our Consultants are recognised and registered by the GMC and the Royal College of Anaesthetists as experts and independent practitioners in Anaesthesia.
On rare occasions, the fee quoted may change at the time of the surgery, if the procedure or the care provided differs from that originally planned.
